Who is Vigilant Hope?

We are a group of people who come from all different backgrounds who come together to reach and teach poverty in Wilmington, NC. We are a family of believers who have dedicated our lives to the Lord and are always learning, growing, and changing. We work to amplify the God-given dignity to ALL people as we recognize that God made all people in His image. We work as Urban Missionaries to learn the true needs and have a Biblical view of the injustices in the community and educate the church on practical avenues to help.

Mission Statement

Vigilant Hope is a modern missions organization. We exists to educate, equip and empower the body of Christ to

reach those in need through the hope of the gospel.

We’re rolling up our sleeves to join together in changing our city,  creating avenues for the body of Christ to live out being the answer to poverty and, in the process

God is changing us.

Statement of faith

We are followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that He is the way, the truth, and the life and He is alive. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and is the truth from cover to cover. We believe that Jesus is who the Bible claims Him to be, the only way to salvation. We believe that the purpose of life is to love God and enjoy Him forever. We are to love Him with all of our heart (our love), our mind (the things we think about), and all of our strength (the things we do). In accordance to the teachings of Jesus contained in the Bible, we believe that the highest call of a follower of Christ is to love. We are to love our neighbors, our enemies, the poor, the widow, the orphan, the foreigner, and fellow believers. Our love is to be lived out loud in the way that we treat others in our daily lives. Our love is to be worked out within the context of relationships. Our philosophy is NOT to just argue or debate the truth, but instead to live it. Our mission is to love whoever God may bring into our lives so that they may experience the love of the Father, the life of the Son, and the liberty of the Spirit of God. We do not judge or condemn. We do not shoot the wounded. Instead, our desire is to inspire hope for the depressed and weary, to meet the needs of the oppressed, and to bring freedom to the captive.
